Night of the Cossack

If you are a history buff, you are in luck.  The book Night of the Cossack by Tom Blubaugh is easy written and historically sound.  It is a fiction, but has been very well researched and written on the experiences of Tom's grandfather who was a Russian Cossack before immigrating to America.

Tom's grandfather passed away before Tom was born.  He decided to research his grandfather's life to fulfill a yearning to know his grandfather.  The story begins with Nathan, a young boy at home with his mother.  An unexpected visitor--Cossack--changes Nathan's life forever.  Nathan is required to deny his faith and heritage to save his life.

Nathan is required to make many decisions, not only to save his life, but to better it.  One of the decisions is what to do about the Cossack who forced him into a life he didn't choose.  Does Nathan hate the Cossack and the life he leads?  Does he escape the life?  How does his mother handle it?  How does he work through his feelings?

If you want to know about Russian history, purchase Night of the Cossack by Tom Blublaugh.
